I help governments be less “Kodak” more “Instagram”

Like? Let’s talk

Hello, I’m Ibrahim!

And you have most probably reached this page because you share with me the same passion: building governments (and other businesses!) for the digital age!

I’m pursing this mission through my consulting firm Exantium, a Dubai-based government innovation consulting firm that I founded in 2013 and the regional partner for The Open Data Institute in London.

My most recent assignments was participating in the UN eGovernment Expert Group meeting 2015 organized last March at the UN Headquarter in New York City. A very interesting and insightful meeting with other selected experts from around the world where we reviewed emerging eGovernment issues and trends and discussed shaping the next UN eGovernment Survey 2016.

Before starting advising governments independently, I was fortunate to work as a Strategy Advisor for the eGovernment program in Dubai and the federal eGovernment program of the UAE, where I led initiatives such as the first open government data portal in the country in 2011.

Through Exantium, my journey took me to work with some high profile public sector organizations in the GCC region including the eGovernment program in Saudi Arabia (Yesser), the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology in Qatar (ictQATAR) and the Information Technology Authority (ITA) in Oman.

And lately I’ve become a Registered Open Data Trainer from the ODI – the first in the Arab region.

A few months ago, I launched (01 Government) – the first and only Arabic portal dedicated to the technology of the government of the future, and I’m currently authoring an Arabic book on Smart Government.

My fields of interests include but are not limited to: open data & open government, smart cities, internet of things, social media and citizens’ participation and innovation in public sector.

You can check out my reflections and activity updates on my blog! And you can contact me to have a talk!

And here are some of the government agencies I’ve crossed path with:
