Today (Sunday) will be marked as a milestone in the timeline of eGovernment program in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The eGovernment program (formally managed by General Information Authority) is merged with the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA); the merger went to effect today as the eGovernment team moved to the new TRA building in Dubai.
By bringing the eGovernment program and the ICT regulator together into one body, this merger should create great opportunities for both sectors by facilitating the coordination and harmony in strategies and policies design and implementation. In addition, joint resources can be managed more effectively to face the common challenges and pursuit the joint overall vision.
As I’ve easily noticed today, the atmosphere at the office was full of enthusiasm and positive spirit which is another reason to feel optimistic about the future of eGovernment in the country.
